As was mentioned in an earlier post on this blog (SANTA MARIA TIMES BLACKOUT ON CANCEROUS GUADALUPE SOIL), the Santa Maria Times refused to print Lynn Melville's commentary that quoted the 1998 Environmental Impact Report as saying that the thinner (diluent) added to the Guadalupe oil -- and spilled for 38 years -- is cancerous.
Melville also quoted the 1999 California Coastal Commission report, which stated that 60 percent of the soil in Guadalupe is contaminated with diluent.
Thank goodness we have an independent newspaper in town that isn't afraid to print the truth. The Santa Maria SUN ran Melville's opinion piece this week.
