Donna McCoy recently commented on this blog about Police Chief Danny Macagni's racial slurs of "stupid wetbacks", "damned Mexicans", "niggers" and "chinks". She came to the defense of citizens who didn't object loudly and demand Police Chief Danny Macagni's resignation because, "It's more a case of ignorance, especially if one has to search for an independent paper to learn about it."
The Tin Soldier agrees heartily. What would we do without the Santa Maria Sun? (See excellent article by Kirsten Flagg on Macagni's racial slurs.)
In case my readers didn't notice, the Santa Maria Times would not touch the Macagni story with even a ten foot pole. There was absolutely no mention whatsoever in the Times about it -- ever. Total blackout from the only daily newspaper in the city of a huge story about the Santa Maria Police Officers' Association so upset at Police Chief Danny Macagni that they went public with their concerns.
Ignoring the Macagni racial slur story by the Santa Maria Times is not only unprofessional, it does an outrageous disservice to the citizens and smacks of cronyism at its worst.
Another example of main stream media thinking they can continue to spoon feed to the people whatever they want them to know -- and bury truths they don't want exposed to the light of day.
Golly, gee. Just what might we do with truthful knowledge? Could it be that we might be informed voters? What a concept.
